Native Americans Today

Many people think that Native Americans were only here centuries ago when newcomers came to an “unknown land” and that they do not exist in the present day. In this lesson plan for 3rd-5th graders, students are introduced to Native children and their families through photo essays and other texts confirming that Native people still live, work, and play on land they share with the descendants of the newcomers.
