This Pew Research report highlights the fact that women continue to be underrepresented in many STEM fields, particularly in computer and mathematical occupations. Additionally, African Americans, Hispanics, and other marginalized groups are still underrepresented in STEM jobs overall. The report also identifies a number of barriers to increasing diversity in STEM jobs, including a lack of access to quality education and training, unconscious biases, and a lack of role models and mentorship opportunities for underrepresented groups. The authors emphasize the importance of addressing these barriers and making STEM education and careers more accessible to all, in order to build a more diverse and inclusive STEM workforce.
