This interactive book on anti-racism leads the reader through an awareness journey to understand racism in themselves and society and ways to act on this awareness. While intended for youth in grades 6-12, it is truly a primer for anyone interested in dismantling racism. US2 recommends that educators experience the book themselves in a cohort of at least 4, completing all the activities individually and discussing them as a group. The cohort should then imagine how they could guide their students as they implement the book & activities in their classrooms, schools, and district. Note: There is an accompanying journal that was printed in 2021 with 50 additional activities/reflections to help youthful anti-racists continue the lifelong journey. Tiffany Jewell (author) identifies as a Black biracial writer and anti-racist Montessori educator and consultant. Arelia Durand presents as Black and is a French illustrator based in Paris.
