Why Am I “So Gay” by Thomas Lloyd

Why Am I “So Gay” by Thomas Lloyd

In the TEDx talk “Why Am I So Gay,” Thomas Lloyd discusses his personal journey of discovering and accepting his sexuality as a gay man. He reflects on how he struggled with shame and guilt about his feelings, which were often reinforced by negative societal attitudes towards individuals who identified as part of the LGBTQIA+ community.  Lloyd explains how his experiences led him to question why he was gay, and he explores various theories about the biological and environmental factors that may contribute to someone’s sexuality. He notes that while there is still much to be understood about the science of sexuality, it is clear that being gay is not a choice or a “lifestyle” but rather an inherent aspect of one’s identity. Lloyd also discusses the importance of representation and visibility for LGBTQIA+ individuals, noting that seeing positive depictions of gay characters in media can help to combat negative stereotypes and increase acceptance. He encourages individuals to embrace their own identities and to support the LGBTQIA+ community in creating a more inclusive and equitable society.
